Nah, can’t be…not big pharma and the most transparent and ethical …..oh fuckit.
Ace calls it pretty much a direct quid pro quo to the tune of $150 million
All the dirty details (and links) can be found at Ace’s place.

I stumbled upon your page and began reading your entry, I would love to share with you what has worked for me because I wish I would’ve started on meds yrs ago! I know it’s not to appealing to pump yourself full of drugs but I would rather be happy & live a normal life than living in the deep black hole that no matter what you try you just can’t get yourself out of. There is a chemical imbalance that sometimes only meds MIXED with exercise and healthy eating can produce results.
I have found that Lamictal and Risperdal work wonders. I’m a big fan of risperdal. The only side affect is weight gain. I went from 115 to 125-128. This isn’t a huge jump but it is noticable. The Risperdal starts working a couple days after taking it, if not sooner. Lamictal helps with the depression side and Risperdal helps with the mania side (or bitchy side as I like to call it).
Everyone is different you have to be patient and willing to try different things. One day you’ll find the right “formula” and you’ll be so happy!
Good Luck!
How did your situation with the antidepressants work out?? This post is soooo old I wonder if you are okay.
I am on Lexapro and it is too damn expensive. I am interested in the research that says monotherapy is as good as dual-therapy. Look that stuff up and decide for yourself. Maybe some of your depression is a placebo effect where if you read the monotherapy research, perhaps, the depression would become better because the placebo effect would be eliminated.
Otherwise, Lexapro is off patent in 2010 or 2011 I think, so hang in there.
I want to encourage you to keep posting. I like your stuff! Thus, I added you to my site listing of bloggers.

Hi Andrew…thanks for your concern. I am now on Paxil which is one of the very few drugs that I have not tried. I can’t really tell much of a difference yet. I was trying a drug from France that has not been apporved in the US. It worked but you had to take it every 4 hours and was quite expensive.
I’ve been forcing myself to go out and be in the sun everyday (that it doesn’t rain). I’ve, also, turned to music which has always had a great influence on my mood.
So, I have some days that are good, some are bearable, and some are just plain crappy. But, ya know, life is like that for everybody. So, I spend time trying to sort out the “normal” times and the “not so normal” times. Over the years, I’ve gotten very in tune with my moods and can tell which are caused by a real depression (chemical and enviormental) and which are just results of shitty days.
Hope you are doing well.
I have started 2 drafts for this blog but have not finished them. I will get to it, though.
I, also, post at http://trailerparkbarbie.wordpress.com/
The TPB blog is one way that I cope with depression. I try to find something funny about my dysfunctional family to write about there. And, believe me, I do have a dysfunctional family. Come by sometime. I’m going to check out your Bipolar News Site in just a couple of minutes.
Went to your Bipolar Porch….loved it! But, there is no place for comments. I am going to add you to my blogrolls. You have so much info on there! Thanks!!!!
