It was my birthday…. I could cry if I wanted to!

The 14th of this month was my birthday… just last Friday… Know who forgot my birthday? My mother. ROFLMAO! She’s now officially forgotten most everyone in the family’s birthday. I believe the memory of every single person on this earth has been affected by the hormone’s in the chickens we eat. I’m dead serious. What else could it be? We can’t ALL have Alzheimer’s. (shakes head emphatically). And she’s not taking the old standby, Topamax (Dopamax, to us oldtimers)… so she can’t even use THAT excuse that we BP’ers use, can she? She’s not THAT old…. 66… so senility is out of the question. She’s not THAT busy, having retired just a year or two back… and she’s not ever had ECT, or a frontal lobotomy either. She just plain forgot.

You’ve not had a sad feeling till your own mother forgets your birthday.

And, truthfully… it’s not that she FORGOT it… it’s that she didn’t REMEMBER it! Not even a day or two… or even THREE days later! ROFL… I called her today, and said… “Well, Mom… you’ve now officially forgotten EVERYBODY in the family’s birthday…”

the conversation grew silent, and then raccuous laughter…. she couldn’t believe it! Not MINE! And then…. “Well”… I said, “Your reminder person didn’t call to remind you (that being ME)… “she must be falling down on the job, eh?”

“oh honey… I’m sorry….”

“Don’t worry about it, Mom… It was my turn”.

We both got a giggle out of that.

This way… my brother and sister will stop thinking that I’m the favorite, right? I doubt it… but it will help. *wink*

As years fly by the window
we often don’t get gifts
and that’s ok by me, I guess
I’ve long stopped throwing fits

But always I look forward to
a call from loving mother,
and if I’m lucky I might hear from
my sister and my brother

well, sister sent an email
via internet
and brother? he’ll remember just as soon
as April Fool’s rolls round, I bet

But always I can count on
My mother calling up
and wishing me a happy day
and an “overflowing cup”

but this year, birthday came and went
without a peep from mom
and though it’s sad, I guess it shows
I’m really NOT “da bomb”

if you’ve been having doubts about
whether you’re grown up, well hey….
you’ll KNOW it’s true….. I’ll bet any of you…
when your Mom forgets your birthday!

It’s a wake up call
to one and all
It’s a sad, sad day…
I hate to say
when Mom isn’t there
to say she cares
with a big birthday kiss
and a birthday wish
with love for you
and maybe a present or two
well, maybe next year
*wipes away a tear*
(well, she said she was sorry….)
it won’t happen again, don’t worry

Oh yeah… to top it all off…. I took the kids to Six Flags… and you know that guys who guesses your weight, or your age? well… being a recovering anorexic, I SURELY wasn’t going to let him guess my weight! So I let him guess my age!

The good news is… I won!
The bad news is…. he guessed I was 55 years old!
